8AM START – Meet at Roosa Avenue and US Hwy 160 West.

Mesa Verde 100k
10AM START – Meet at Absolute Bakery, 110 South Main in Mancos.
**Please note: There is an $8 Entry Fee, and lights are required to ride your bike through Mesa Verde National Park due a rather lengthy and dark tunnel.
Thursday October 1, 2009
Durango Singletrack MTB Ride – 20 miles and/or 2 hours
Meet at Carver’s, 1022 Main Avenue
*Ride with Ned Day

Friday October 2, 2009
Wade-O’s  Tour of Eastern La Plata County – up to 60 miles 
Meet at Oscar’s, in the Town Plaza next to Kroeger’s Hardware Store
*Riders should expect as much road-bike-suitable dirt roads as is possible.

Saturday October 3, 2009
 Baker’s Bridge-Old Shalona – 30 miles
Meet at bread – at Florida Rd and East Animas Rd (CR 250)
*Vintage Bike Day* (if you don’t have a vintage steed, bring your most unique or fun velo)

Tad Elliott Stuff Sale

Tad Elliott plus Elliott family gear sale is this Friday evening starting at 4pm-whenever then Saturday morning starting at 8 am. At the Elliott’s house 2613 Arroyo Drive. Please role by. There is Tons of Sunglasses and Cycling clothes. A couple of bikes and some nordic Skiing equipment. Tad is a DEVO alumni who is now a professional cross country ski and bike racer. In the bike racing department, he is currently looking for a new team, so keep your ears peeled.

PRACTICES: Wednesdays at 12noon

That for the first few weeks as later in the day conflicts with Football. Once you know the course you may practice at any time, just be aware in high traffic/paved sections. If the football team is using its whole practice area then avoid that part of the course (you can figure out a way do the barriers without conflicting). There is also baseball/softball/soccer and club sports using the area later in the day – it’ll be tough until November.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HEAD UP FOR PEDS AND OTHER TRAFFIC.

I have marked a ~ 6min. course starting at the softball complex toward Dirks Field (Soccer-East) then heading left (north). Orange flags mark the apex of turns 95% of the time – the other 5% they are there to give a long straightaway reference. When there are 2 and 3 flags it is a hairpin and/or in an area without a tree to mark the turn.

Durango Little 500

This wednesday night will be the Durango Little 500 track bike fun race to benefit the Volunteers of America. Registration is 5pm at the Fort Lewis College track. Teams of 4 race around the track using team tactics to win the ultimate prize, fun. This is a fun family event and all types of bikes are welcomed. Check out the DWC blog for the scoop.
